HISTORY: The first coffee plantation appeared in Cuba in 1748. But the largest cultivation began in 1789 by thousands of French coffee growers who had to escape the revolt of armed slaves in Haiti.
These farmers established extensive knowledge of coffee agriculture and processing.
French coffee growers grew coffee in Sierra Maestra. Climatic conditions and soil composition were ideal for coffee plantation and allowed intensive development for coffee.
